There was jubilation at the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) Ondo, Ondo State on Tuesday 29th November 2019, as the Council of the Institute approved the appointment of a Research Professor/ Chief Research fellow of Educational Management, Olatoun Akinsolu, as the Acting Director-General of NIEPA.
This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Ag. Registrar of NIEPA, Mrs. Abimbola Fayanju. There was jubilation in the Institute following the appointment of Akinsolu as staff trooped out to her office to celebrate the appointment of the new Acting DG, who the majority of them had been rooting for.
The new Acting Director-General who emerged after a rigorous screening process is an accomplished academic who serves as the Institute’s Coordinator of Programmes. She has also had long stints with international donors organizations such as Common Wealth of Learning (COL), UNICEF, DFID, Save the Children, UNESCO-IICBA- Addis Ababa, British Council and World Bank on Educational Management Issues. Akinsolu, Abiodun Olatoun is a lecturer, a trainer, course designer, researcher and consultant. She is a trained expert by the World Bank Institute in the application of Economics theory for policy decision and reforms in education as well as a trained Cost Analyst for Education service provision as attested by IIEP, Paris
She holds a PhD in Educational Management with speciality in quantitative analysis of educational planning from the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria. Her areas of specializations in research are educational Management and planning, policy analysis and policy development, programme design, and evaluation, teacher education as well as gender issues with over 20 years’ experience in the education sector management in Nigeria, including more than 10 years working with international donors organizations. She has written extensively in Local and International journals with over 70 publications.
Akinsolu, Abiodun Olatoun has served the National Institute for Educational Planning (NIEPA), the Federal Ministry of Education, State Ministries and Local Government Education Authorities in several capacities. She is a member of various professional bodies including SDGs African Independent Assessors (SDGAIA), Nigerian Association of Evaluation (NAE), Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Nigerian Association for Educational Administration and Planning. (NAEAP). Nigerian Association of Educational Research and Evaluation. (NAERE). National Council for Educational Innovation and Development (NCEID), Educational Management Professionals (EMP), Harvard Business/Family Review (HBFR), Capacity Development Network International (CDNI), Africa Community of Practice in Managing for Development Result (ACPMD-R), World Bank Institute Alumnus (WBIA) and Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM).
