The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of NIEPA Nigeria, Ondo, Prof. Olivet Jagusah mni, has said that regular training and retraining for administrative workers at the local government level will boost their capacity in strategic planning and management and ensure effective use of allocations to the education sector.
Jagusah represented by the Ag. Registrar of the Institute, Mrs. Abimbola Fayanju said this on Tuesday 4th October 2021 at the opening ceremony of a three-day training programme organized by Universal Basic Education (UBEC) in collaboration with NIEPA Nigeria, Ondo for over 120 Education Secretaries in Nigeria.
According to her, the workshop theme “Strategic Management for Effective School Administration for LGEAs Education Secretaries in Nigeria” aims to address concerns and demand to improve the delivery of quality basic education in Nigeria.
She said, “This workshop will add color to your effectiveness and efficiency in the performance of your day-to-day administrative functions. It seeks to entrench the values of clarity, transparency, and accountability which are prerequisites for growth and sustainable development. We hope that after this training, you will cascade down knowledge gained in your respective LGEAs.’’
Briefing the participants on workshop modalities and best practices in Training and Research, Head, Training and Research department of the Institute, Dr. Sunday Adegbesan, told the participants that this training will help the education secretaries towards developing special service improvement plans and innovation for their schools, develop strategies for leading and managing change within their LGEAs. These would enable them to measure the effectiveness of their programmes and impact as education officers, Adegbesan added.
