NIEPA DEVELOPS CAPACITY OF KANO STATE SUBEB EDUCATION SECRETARIES

No fewer than 44 education secretaries are receiving training programme in the on-going UBEC/NIEPA/ KANO SUBEB 2021on Leadership and strategic management holding at Education Resource Centre, Kano. In his opening speech, the Director General/CE NIEPA, Prof Oliveth Jagusah ably represented by Head Training, Dr Sunday Adegbesan said NIEPA’s mandate is to develop the capacity of education sector managers, planners and policy makers as well as to disseminate information through action research. Prof Jagusah also said that this training has been designed to strengthen the competence of 44 Education Secretaries and reposition them for better service delivery geared towards improving the standard of basic education in Kano state. He stated further that retraining of education managers is an essential step towards achieving government objective of qualitative education. In his own welcome address, the Executive Chairman of Kano SUBEB who was represented by the Director Teacher Professional Development Mallam Kabir, appreciated NIEPA for the wonderful job noted for world wide as NIEPA is known for skill impartation, knowledge sharing and attitudinal change. He admonished the participants to make use of the training opportunity to discuss issues and concerns in basic education as it affects Kano state.
Various concepts and contents were discussed in the training these include:
1. Leadership and strategic management
2. Decision making in school administration
3. Responsibility and Accountability
4. Team building
5. E- governance during COVID 19 pandemics
6. Use of school library
7. Entrepreneurial education for school managers among others
